Theologia has resumed. If you know someone who would like to learn more about the Christian faith, or if you would like to deepen and grow in your own understanding, please join us on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm.
The LWML will meet tomorrow, Monday, May 12, at noon, for a light lunch, fellowship, and a business meeting. Hope to see you there!
Our Saviour’s Men will continue our discussion of Man Up!: The Quest for Masculinity, with chapter 11, this Saturday, May 17th, at the Church; breakfast is at 8:00 a.m.
There will be a Voters’ Meeting next Sunday, May 18th, following service. Please attend as we discuss the business of the church.
One topic to be discussed at next Sunday's voters' meeting is a proposal to pay off the parsonage and proceed with paying down the loan for the church roof. Please download a copy of the proposal and review it prior to the meeting.
April and May's Mission of the Month is a monetary collection for the Veterans of the Cross. Veterans of the Cross assists retired Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod church workers, as well as their surviving spouses and dependent children, who are confronted by a financial crisis that forces them to choose between equally vital, basic human needs.
A prayer for Christians on this day in which the secular calendar honors motherhood:
O Almighty God, who sent forth Your only-begotten Son to be born of a woman, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and who by His holy incarnation did, in truth, cause her to be the very Mother of God, thereby crowning and honoring all motherhood, grant Your perpetual favor and blessing upon all of our mothers, that they, in turn, may be a blessing to all their children. Help them recognize the holy office You have entrusted to them and strengthen them to serve faithfully within it. Grant that their motherly service may not be burdensome but rather joyful and glad. Comfort all women who do not have children and those whose children are estranged from them, that their hope and confidence may ever remain in You in whom true joy is found. Bless the memory of mothers who have passed on from this vale of tears. Give us loving hearts that freely give thanks for our mothers, heartily forgive them where they have failed and fallen short, willingly obey them, and gladly honor them. Grant also to the Holy Christian Church, which is the Mother of us all, prosperity in faithfulness, that we, through Her pure milk of the Word, may gain everlasting joy; through the Son of Mary, Your only Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
