Sermon for Reminiscere, 2025

Beloved, let your cries for mercy mirror that of the Canaanite woman; moreover, pray that the Spirit works in your heart the same faith He worked in her heart. So that when your cries echo out yet seemingly fall on deaf ears, you also don’t stop crying out. Or when God seems to be saying “No,” you, likewise, cry out all the louder. Or even when God seemingly chides you and tells you that you aren’t deserving of His help, you, like the Canaanite woman, agree with Him. “Truth, Lord,” you say, for you aren’t deserving of His help. Still, you know—you trust and believe—He is merciful and that whatever He says or does, despite how things may seem or appear, is also good for you.
