What does Jesus mean, "Ask in My name"? Certainly, it's not an incantation, a series of words that we are to put at the end of our prayers, said so that He might hear them. Nor do we merely attach the phrase "in Jesus' name" simply as a conclusion to our prayers, giving little to no thought about what those words mean. They mean so much! To ask in His name, that is, to pray in the name of Jesus, is to pray in the stead of Jesus. Jesus bids us to step into His place when we address the Father, to speak to the Father, now, as though we were Jesus Himself.
